Solved! Help with Vintage Sony SA-VA1 Speakers

My friend acquired a set of vintage Sony SA-VA1 home theater speakers and he is thinking, that since the speakers have a built-in amp, he can connect a CD/CD changer to them without needing a separate receiver or connecting to the TV. Is this correct or will he need a separate receiver to use these as stand-alone speakers? Any help is appreciated!

A powered set of speakers don't need a receiver to work as long as they have the correct inputs on them to connect whatever it is they want to connect.
