Roku Express (No +)

Help!

So, I set my parents up with Sling TV since they're trying to cut back on costs of outrageous cable TV prices. Their new TV was a breeze to set up, but with their older HDTV (approx 8 years old - Westinghouse), I'm having trouble. There's no HDMI connection that I could see, only a USB connection and VGA. I connected the USB cord to the back of the TV and Roku Express, but upon trying to select the proper source, there's absolutely no signal. (Westinghouse has an input button, and there's NINE sources to choose from. I ran down the list, and all come back with "no signal." I'm at a loss as to what to do because my tech savvy-ness only goes so far!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance!

P.S. I fly home in TWO days, and am extremely hopeful someone out there can help me before then, so I don't leave them high and dry.

Since you made the distinction between the Roku Express and Express + you may already suspect that you need the plus. That has AV outputs. The Express doesn't work unless you have HDMI.

Thanks for your reply! I had a sneaking feeling that was the case, but was also hoping that there might be some kind of adapter that could make it work?

You could use an HDMI to AV adapter.

Probably cheaper to sell the Roku Express and get the plus (if you can't get an exchange). Fewer boxes means less complications for your parents.
