RTV with Canadian satellite receiver?

I have a 5040.
According to RTV they only provide the guide for USA programming
sources. I have a DirecTV satellite receiver on input-1 and a
Canadian satellite receiver on input-2 which is configured as "other
composite". If I want to record from the Canadian source I have to
press Menu, Setup, scroll to ReplayTV Input, Select, and use the right
arrow to select Line-2. Then I have to use the remote for the
Canadian receiver to select the channel (no IR-Blaster code for the
Canadian unit) and then start the recording manually by pressing
Record on the RTV remote.
Q1: Is this the only way I can use the Canadian source on input-2, or
is there an easier way?
Q2: Why isn't RTV interested in the Canadian market?

A complicated procedure, especially considering how long the Replay
takes to change inputs. For a much easier way, see below.

It's still not as good as having the guide, but input selection is a
lot easier if you set up a dummy device on that input.

Just tell the Replay you have some other device (such as Dish Network,
bu sure to correctly specify composite or S-video input) connected to
input 2 and deselect all the channels (to keep the Replay from trying
to do an automatic record inappropriately).

When you want to select that input, you select one of those channels.
It's easier and much more responsive than using the menu for that. For
example, I select channel 1010 to get input 2. If your remote allows
macros, you can do that with 1 button press (you can't with the menu
procedure, too many commands are relative).

You might want to look at WiRNS (http://tinyurl.com/726kz) to get the
guide info for the Canadian receiver. If you can't use the serial port
or IR-Baster to control it, you're still going to have to set the
channel manually, of course.

Lets just say the US market is 100 times bigger than in Canada, and they are
struggling in the USA..they would fare much worse in Canada

If you are using Bell ExpressVu your option is to use a program called
"WiRNs" to get ExpressVu listings on the Replay..I think it may also work
for Starchoice but I am not sure about that

It does support Starchoice (which I have) but I'm puzzled by the WiRNs
setup. It's asking me for a DirectData login & pwd. WTF is
DirectData?
