What would be the advantage exchanging time-Warner's 8000HD for the 8030HD?
TW will have them available next Monday. Their reps tell me they offer no
difference in what I have now. Mind you, I have no problem with the 8000HD,
but their must be some improvements for them to make the change.

I believe the only difference is the 8300 has an hdmi port, while the 8000
has dvi port.

Some 8300HD users report that the composite and S-Video outputs are
active even with the unit being in HD mode. On the SA8000, these
outputs are disabled in HD mode.

The 8300 by most accounts has a sharper HD picture- check over at avs forum
for more info. I have one, it looks pretty good, still some bugs as usual,
though. . .

Isn't the 8300 supposed to be more stable than the 8000?

I can't believe it still only has a 160GB hard drive.

What do you guys do? Just record and not watch? I have a cabinet full of
old movies off of HBO that I will never get around to watching. BTW, our TW
has the 8300 now and you can replace the 8000 with no questions asked.

I just switched and the biggest difference I see is it operates a little
quicker, and it has an active HDMI port whereas the 8000 has an inactive
DVI port. The 8300 also has an ATA/SATA port for hard drive expansion.
not sure if this is active yet.
