Hi,

I bought a Samung 850 EVO SSD and I tried to migrate my Windows 10 OS from my existing internal HDD to the SSD using the CD provided with the SSD. But my laptop(HP) is not able to detect the SSD for some reason. I guess I am using the wrong enclosure. What is the right SATA to USB cable that I need to use to migrate the OS? I am from India and if possible, kindly provide me with the right product link. For your reference, I used the following internal HDD enclosure: http://www.amazon.in/Terabyte-2-5-inch-portable-external-harddisk/dp/B00IWQHHTG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1439622650&sr=8-1&keywords=internal+hard+drive+enclosure

No, it is not detected in device manager. Can you recommend the right USB to SATA cable as I think the problem lies with the enclosure I used and I am struggling to find the right one.

any sata to usb solution should work, there isn't anything special about ssd sata connections that would render a working enclosure or cable/adapter inoperable.

Does your laptop's bios see the drive?

can you plug the drive into another machine and see if its detected?

Some older laptops can only detect certain drives, what model/age is your laptop?

Have you tried plugging the drive into a different USB port?

this adapter is nice because it provides two usb connections, one for data and one for power, although a SSD drive doesn't require the additional power connection, if you have power over usb concerns get a cable like this and it will solve that concern. http://www.amazon.com/Patuoxun-Converter-Adapter-Cable-Drive/dp/B008ASF5MC/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1440175147&sr=1-6&keywords=sata+to+usb
