I have a Series 4 SAMSUNG LED TV.
I am able to play movies (SD or HD) by directly plugging in a storage device on it's USB port.
For convenience and to avoid wear and tear to the TV's USB Port, I am using a USB extender so that I will just plug in a USB on the extender instead of having to pull it in and out of the TV's port.
So far, I was able to plug and play USB sticks (8GB at most since this is what I have).
However, if I am using an external hard drive (WD 500GB elements, for example), my TV will not respond or read the hard drive via the USB extender. I have to directly plug it in to the TV.
Why is this?
Is there a work around you can suggest so that I can just keep using the USB extender if I plug in the Hard Drive? I really hate having to unplug the wires at the back of the TV every after use. I'm afraid one day it will loosen the USB port of the TV.
