No personal experience with Samsung notebooks yet, but since they build their components rather than outsourcing much of it to the lowest bidder, they do have solid build quality and their products are generally reliable.

This particular unit: Entry level CPU, not a FHD screen, minimum RAM for 64 bit OS, minimalist graphics. It's fine for the price and if you want it for everyday use. In fact, it would be great for everyday use, as long as you don't mind Windows 8.
