Samsung smart TV w/Bluetooth tx

I found a couple other posts describing identical issues I'm having albeit maybe a different model tv.
I'm using the optical audio out from the TV into the spdif optical in of the transmitter. BT headphones paired with transmitter. Regular TV the transmitter/headphones work fine. Switch to any streaming app on the TV like Netflix, as soon as I press play I get a loud click over ther headphones and then no sound streams. Exit and return to regular TV everything works. I've tried various settings under the Sound menu to no avail.
Ideas?

Actually came across another post on a workaround. After starting the Netflix app on the TV and beginning to stream, go back into tv menu, Sound setting and I chose PCM. Exit menu and the stream sound came across the Bluetooth no problem. A bit cludgy but it works.
