Scavenging speakers from my 80's ghetto blaster

Hi guys and girls. I have a Hitachi TRK-3D8E old school ghetto blaster which has unfortunately bitten the dust. For an unknown reason to me (i've always been very careful to not knock it) all of the functions except the tape player suddenly stopped working. I've dismantled it in an attempt to try and get it kicking again but I have to admit I have no idea what i'm doing... Unfortunately taking it to a repair shop isn't an option, I got a quote and they said £70+ for repairs. Sooo my question is: the three speakers still sound amazing (to me) and I was wondering is there a component I can buy which I can plug the speakers into which has a headphone port on the other side? Any help would be really appreciated. Sorry if my explination is poor, I don't know the correct terminology I just really don't want to see these speakers end up in the rubbish (they have sentimental value).

How many speakers are there total mate ??

I know there's a centre bass & 2 x 4 inch midrangers.

What is there tweeter wise (the small cones) ??

& how are they wired ?? Do they come wired straight from the midrange & are there any resistors soldered inline ??

I can't see from the pics themselves

The amp looks kind of ideal , yeah low wattage but its a fiver here.

You are going to need some form of crossover for the tweeters though.

& a 12v 2 or 3amp transformer for the amp.

Thanks for your reply! That is what i'm planning to do but it's the electrical side that is confusing me. Did you happen to look at the photos? Do you know the name of the connections? Thanks

Okay will do. Like I said I don't really know much about this field. Do you have any wiring methods that you could recommend? Do I need to connect the speakers to an amplifier? This really boggles my mind but I want to give it shot. Thanks again.

Damn mate , an old 3d super woofer.

That brings back memories big time , I had the 3d 8 twin drive , it chewed through batteries like nobodies business , honestly only kept it a few months because portable it was not but the thing was an absolute beast.

The speakers themselves ?? They're honestly not that good , the box itself was because of the echo chamber design & bass ports - that's what gave it the sound more than the speakers themselves.

You could no doubt rig 'something' up.
Yes you'll need an amp , a mini one for £15-20 will power those .

Your issue is with the crossovers to the centre bass dome & the tweeters , tbeyre all controlled by that circuit board by the looks of things.

Youll struggle to find schematics for that anywhere.

When you say 'only the tape works' do ypu mean the amp & everything is shot or can you still get any power to the speakers ??

I don't know what happened to the poor thing. The AM/FM radio stopped working along with the line in. When on those modes there is no light nor static (that's how I could normally tell if it was alive hahah). I just finished taking the speakers out of the boombox https://drive.google.com/open?id=1N-rLece1K4Y4qEGjwxR4i8yENjB8-KSm i'm not really expecting it to sound amazing but those speakers were kick-ass (in the boombox atleast) could you give me an example of an amplifier that would be suitable? I'm assuming amazon sell them? Thanks for the reply! Also this speaker was passed down to me, how much would they of sold for back in the day? Just curious...

Also this is probably another stupid question, for example this amplifier http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hi-Fi-2-1-Amplifiers-Lvpin-LP-838-Stereo-Subwoofer-Audio-Bass-Speaker-Booster-/182840896245 says it is for a 2.1 HiFi system, would this be suitable for my use? Does the 3D superbass speaker work as a speaker as well as a subwoofer or does it ONLY provide bass? It also says that that amplifiers maximum power output is 20W. Is that powerful enough to power the 3 speakers (their max output is rated at: 6W, 6W and 16W) Sorryif these questions seem stupid but I really dont know much about this type of stuff...
