screen image partially fried

HP Pavillion dv6000 dropped on carpet and now the screen image is partially fried. Computer works fine plugged in to external monitor. Could it be the ribbon or most likely a new screen will fix this, thanks...rrw

Most likely you need a new LCD screen. But it would help to know exactly what you mean by "partially fried"? A picture of the problem might help.

If it is the LCD from what I could find out it looks like a replacement will cost between $80 and $100 just for the screen. If you are comfortable replacing it your self it would save a lot of money otherwise you will need to send it in for repair.

thank you guys for answering, so far I have done nothing but for the money it may be worth it to replace the screen. However the HP is about 7 years old so I may just sell it on ebay. rrw
