Screen is black when turned on

My Toshiba laptop when you turn it on it lights up as if it is turning on but the screen is black .. is this something that can be fixed

Almost anything can be fixed, but the question should be "is it worth fixing it?" You may have a dead screen, backlight or inverter. Try the system with an external monitor, do you get an image on that? You may need to use a function key to send the image to it.

Next up, figure out if it's worth fixing or just replacing. If you buy the same model to replace it you can just swap your hard drive into it without any hassle.
