Screen stays blank (white) after bootup

Hello, I have a packard bell easynote TJ74. When i boot it up the screen comes on (white) but stays white throughout the boot-up process - lights flash, fan whirs, hard drive makes a noise, then I hear the windows music that you get once it's booted but the screen has stayed white. HELP!!
