Hi:

I want to buy a SD card 256 Mb with fast read acces (to write is not very
important).

I've read a lot of news and I've seen that there is a lot of disagreement
about cards.

Do you know any comparison table about the sd cards specifications? Read
average, write average, etc.

Thanks a lot and pardon my english.

Aitor.

Try a web search, digital camera sites are often good.

If you want to use a SD card in a PDA, I'd try a brand different
from Sandisk. Although many have used Sandisk branded without
any problems, a lot of times when problems with SD cards are
discussed here it involves Sandisk cards.

That's probably because they are the best seller. I've had 5 and have had
no problem.

The Best Seller? Where are the figures to prove that?

Jeese, just look at all the stores that carry SanDisk as aposed to any other
kind. Ok, so I don't know if that's 100% correct, but they sold a shitload
more when I used to work at best buy.

Could be. Sure. But similar unscientific statistics in my direct
surroundings (where people have access to multiple brands) have
showed me that if they had an issue, it was always with Sandisk,
and never with any other brand. I even know someone who had all
his Sandisk cards fail within a year or two. But, this is all
purely based on my own observations, and has said: highly
unscientific. I am well aware of that, and I hope I made that
clear enough in my original post.

I thought that Sandisk only branded other card makes some nondescript.
Thats why I went straight to the manufacturer Panasonic. Does anyone
know if the Kingston SDs are made by Kingston?

There are problem with Sandisk cards. For example, they even
acknowledge that a batch of their cards have compatibility problems with
The Tungsten T3 and Dell Axim and there is a webpage on their site
involved with the exchange process.

If you do a google search on problems with SD cards, there are whole
websites dedicated to problems with Sandisk.

I think it's a problem with the technology all around. Just because other
manufacturers don't have a website dedicated to the problem, doesn't mean
they don't have the problem too. I have owned around 5 or 6 SD cards of
various sizes. All sandisk but one, panasonic. Honestly, i have had two
fail, one a 64 mb sandisk and a 64mb toshiba. Both stopped working and both
were exchanged right away. I saw no difference in either.
