Sennheiser HD 598 Volume Very Low

Is this normal? Perhaps it is because I'm used to a pair of loud garbage. Perhaps these pair of headphones is designed to listen at low levels. I currently have it to 30 points in Windows volume. The headphones are connected to my MOBO. Does this really matter?

Yes. There is something about the Realtek audio chips. They seem to prefer the front panel audio ports.

You need a headphone amp. With an impedance of 50ohms those headphones wont get any louder than speaking volume with the amp on a motherboard alone.

while most onboard will handle even 50ohm headphones fine, some of the ones with weaker amplifiers (cheaper onboard audio) will not.

you might want to look at getting a cheap fiio amplifier as this would help.

I highly think that you are right. Unfortunately the headphone jack on my Corsair 500R broke I'll have to buy another front I/0 panel.
