I've never heard high quality headphones, the best I've ever listened to are some brand from radio shack that were $50 and though probably laughable, I found those big headphones to sound really good.

But I live in a townhouse setting so I have neighbors and late at night when I'm blasting it up on UT2K3 i get called in.

Would a set of Sennheiser 590HDs sound good for my games? Im guessing yes but I'd be buying them online w/o hearing them so I am hoping for some testimonial for sennheisers or another good brand of cans.

I have logitech z560s for speakers and lovem ta death but considering letting them go to my cousin for cheap because I cant really use them.

Also does EAX sound as good with cans compared to a speaker setup?

Thanks in advance!

I have a set of Sennheiser 590s and I absolutely love them. They really can't totally replace a good set of speakers, but when I don't want to be loud or I just want to quietly listen to music, they can't be beat.

If I paid as much attention to people as I do computers I would be married.

Headphones are pretty good for imaging, IMO. I have a set of Sony MDR-V400s, and the imaging I get from them almost rivals my stereo. Put them on, and you know exactly where the enemy is. I say get them. Sennheiser speakers are among the best.

I'm like Umheint0, I have a pair of Senns and they are simply awesome. I think because you are completely isolating yourself from any outside audio interference, your brain is able to interpret the steroe positioning much more accurately, because they are almost as good as 3D positional, IMHO. However, ONLY high-quality headphones have that kind of precision. I still have a set of SONY MDR-V600, and it was a really good set, but it can't touch my Senns.HD250.

Go with a pair of Sony MDR-V6 (not V600). They cost 70 bucks and are the absolue best. They are used in pro recording studios and have great sounstage for DVD and gaming.
