This is tough to find an answer online because the prices are so drastically different.

I've heard positive things about both, with very little negative.

They will be used to play Counter Strike Global Offensive. CSGO requires high level directional audio.

I need to know what the real difference is between them. I have a decent pair of headphones now and I don't want a marginal upgrade. On the other hand, if I can spend $200 less and get virtually the same performance, I'd prefer to do that.

Thanks

Someone else summed it up well here: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2564715/razor-kraken-chroma-sennheiser-363d-hyperx-cloud.html
"sennheiser pc 363d & hyperx cloud 2 both are very good.
it depends on your budget,
if you ready to spend extra get -> sennheiser
if you want to save some money get -> hyperx cloud 2" ~rkumaran

I just picked up a Kraken, and while the sound is impressive compared to the old Logitech G330, I don't know that it's right for me. The sound in BF4 is awesome, and I can hear foot steps so much more clear than before, but the sound of myself talking to TS people, either takes getting used to or I just hate it. That said, I don't think anyone in the clan has the Kingston HyperX, but I know a few who swear by Sennheiser both in sound quality and quality of the physical product.

In the end, they will probably have like-wise sound and it will come down to what feels better on your head and the quality of how it's made. If you can stop somewhere that sells them to try them on, I'd suggest doing that first.

I have the Cloud 2s and they're great. They are very comfortable and I play FPSs on them. I can hear footsteps very well. They are closed ear cans, but you actually can hear someone sitting next to you talking rather clearly so if you were looking for good sound isolation, these aren't it. But the sound quality is great, they do a great job of directional placement, and they are comfortable. Just make sure your audio driver is playing in 7.1. I never really have an issue with the sound from the outside unless my girlfriend is talking/yelling at me. Then I usually have larger problems than the ability to hear her over the game...

I have no experience with the Sennheisers.
