hello.

I have a gateway MT3707 laptop that i found at the local landfill a couple weeks ago, other then the fact that i had to reformat the hard disk which had vista premium 32 bit,(i installed windows 7 ultimate 32 bit)it runs good, for the most part. the other day i put 2 1gb ram sticks in it,it seems to read the ram properly although it does not run at the right speed i went online looking for my system, i found that it was a laptop sold by bestbuy and i noticed it had a sticker from emachines with the serial number for the system so i went to emac's website and input the number given in the search bar and it came up as unknown,i went to the gateway site and input the serial number and got the same result. all im looking for is the bios that is for this system because i have reason to beleave that someone used a similar but not same bios. the computer is a MT3707 but it has a MT3705 bios and i think if i can get the proper bios it will correct my problem the only problem is i can't find out any thing about the bios other than it is a phoenix trustedcore bios version 83.08,the only ones i can find is 83.03 and 83.05 but when i look at the readme for compatiable systems my system is not in the list so im stuck i don't know what else to do.i will list what i do know about the system and any help would be great. thanks in advance.

gateway MT3707 notebook
phoenix trustedcore bios ver:83.08 512kb
intel core duo t2300 1.66ghz(fsb667mhz)
2-1gb pc-5300 ddr2 ram sticks (running at 266mhz should be 333mhz cuz the ram is a matching pair and the motherboard is said to run pc 5300 ram at 333mhz)
ati-RC410M chipset
ati radeon xpress 200M graphics, reading at 128mb of video memeory(anything i have found on this graphics chip tells me it should be 256mb)
gateway model number off the bottem is W340UI
the emachines model number off the sticker is MT3707 serial number RH1014375R7051449. these are the only numbers i can find on this system.Hope it helps

I always thought the only place to get an authorized BIOS for a Dell, HP, Gateway, whatever brand was from that manufacturer's web site.

Since there are no BIOS downloads for that notebook on the Gateway site, from my perspective it seems you are out of luck.

there is a bios but they are older and the readme does not include MT3707 or MT3705 the bios this has is 83.08 the one on gateways site is 83.05 and 83.03 but they are not listed for MT3707 just MT3705. i would like to find the sorce of the 83.08 bios so i might be able to tweak it to work the way i want it to

i found a bios version that is newer then the one im now running but it's marked as being a MT37 series bios. would that mean that it is for the MT37xx series eg:3705-3707-3708 or is there actualy a MT37 laptop the system specs seem to the same between the 3 models i mentioned except the processors.would this be the bios im looking for?
