setting up subwoofer without control pod

I have a logitech z560 subwoofer and want to know if there is a way to almost hack it so that i do not need a control pod. Is there any way to hook up another amp to it or a control device to it?

If you don't mind fiddling with the electronics it wouldn't be hard to do if you got precise instructions on how to do it. You might as well use the amp built into it and bypass the things you don't want.
