Does the fact that the last part of sex.com may become .xxx have any bearing on this? it may well be worth a lot less now.

I actually thought about trying to register this in 1994, when I first got on the internet. I'm not sure if it was before May though (when it was first registered).

Back then, iirc it cost $200 to register a domain name, and I don't think there was any lookup function; you had to just request a name not knowing if it was available. If I only knew then what I know now. :)
