Question Shadow files "._" on BluRay player USB drive

I just bought a LG BP350 BluRay player. When I plug in my USB drive containing mp4 video files to watch, the drive displays a duplicate file listing for each video that starts with a "._" If I try to select one of these files to play, nothing happens.

Can anyone tell me what these files are and how to get rid of them?

For background, the same USB drive and the same video files display without these duplicate file listings on my LG BD620C BluRay player.

I understand they are temp files, but my issue is that they are showing on the bluray screen directory, where on the previous player they did not show (if they existed). It makes it inconvenient to get to the actual files when I have to scroll through forty or fifty temp. files first for every time I want to play a different video file. I was just hoping there was a way to remove or disable the showing of temp files. Oh, well.
