When using the command, getmac, it returns two addresses: one Intel and one Compal. The laptop in question is a Toshiba. There are reasons to be more than usually suspicious/paranoid.

Is this unusual to have two MAC addresses?

The Intel one is connected (that is the WiFi that should be in use). The LAN I am aware of is made by Realtek (it is not in use).

Yes, each network adapter (wired and wireless) will have its own MAC address. This is not unusual at all.
