previously,i want to your apologize if my English is bad.

i'm very interesting for this post 'coz this post give me information about Google contender and how they develop their search engine better than Google. i have a request for this site owner (Mr.Tom),may i use this topic (Should you Ditch Google?) as a source information to my blog with my own language (Indonesian). my blog is richozphrenia.wordpress.com. please send me the confirmation as soon as possible to my email. thx a lot for your kindness.

The only thing I REALLY hate about google is the way it will give you bs results when you look at cached pages (i.e. the "these words only appear in links pointing to this page"). If it gave me ONLY the results I'd asked for (not trying to be smart and guess which words are important) I'd be very happy. Oh, and Google is not facist (Apple is though lol!)

You are sinking to new lows. Perhaps you should consider retiring, or going back to your old job at Circle K.

If Clusty, Cuil, KartOO, Mahalo, Powerset, Quintura, Trexy, and Wikia are all you could come up with, you don't spend a lot of time online. Wiki is a good tool, but not in the same category as a search engine.

Those who hold up Google as the "best" should do some exploring.
Will Google do a boolean search like this?
(((red) and (white)) or ((green) and (red))) and ((flags) or (symbols))
Alta Vista always has. It may be unfortunate that Yahoo! now owns Alta Vista, but, so far, they haven't disturbed it as far as I know.
Of course, most searches won't be that complicated - more along the lines of something like ((XP) or (Vista)) and (Operating System)

Google is the the only kid on the block. Neither is it the best.
You can check several of them out and compare their results by just entering a search term at http://www.scanmonkey.com/

For now, Google is still the best search engine there is. But it isn't perfect. Good thing there are alternative search engines that we can turn to. A lot of them actually, and not all of them are getting mentioned simply because they didn't hype too much their launching. One of the search engines out there that I find serving my purpose is http://find.com - a simple, newly relaunched search engine which gives better results than Google for most of my searches.
