Slow Internet After Reinstalling OS

After getting very slow internet speed I reinstalled Windows 7 thinking it would solve any virus issues or other problems. Now the speed is exactly the same as before the reinstall. I am running wirelessly and the other laptop is running fine. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

Did this just suddenly happen or has the machine always had slow wireless speed in the location you have it at? Have you changed anything such as moving the router, changing the router, or moving the system to a different location?

Did it ever run fast? What is the speed and quality of your connection? You can find that in the wireless device Status (54mb, 124mb, etc). You can also do a continuous ping (ping -t IP address) against your Default Gateway (ipconfig) and see if you're getting dropped packets or very high latency to your access point. Does the laptop support Wireless N? 2.4 or 5GHz, or both? How about the other laptop, what does it support?

The slow speed just happened about 3 weeks ago out of the blue. I have not moved the router or changed it because the other laptop in my house works fine on the wireless.

Neither laptop supports Wireless N. The speed currently is so slow I cant even do a speed test online (Comcast speed test). Important note.....in SAFE MODE the speed is fine
