Smart TV with Attic Antenna, not getting over the air channels

I have a smart TV hooked to an antenna in the attic, not getting many channels. My question: can I put a digital converter box? I know smart tv's have a tuner but my TV is not getting but only a few channels. I have Comcast but I do not like it, I want over the air channels. Please, need help had a guy come and moved the attic antenna and now I get less channels. Due to HOA I can't have an outside antenna. :-(

If you buy an external ATSC tuner box it may or may not be more sensitive than the one in the TV.
Do your neighbors get more channels than you? The attic antenna may not be the correct type for HDTV. It may not be aimed correctly or may need a signal amplifier to receiver more channels.
I would check with this antenna manufacturer.
