SMS to Pakistan?

Hello all,

I am about to get a Cingular phone, and one of my main reasons is to be able
to send international text messages to Pakistan. The reps have assured me
that I will be able to do so, BUT I have been burned in the past with other
carriers. So, I would like to know if anyone here has successfully been
able to send texts to Pakistan using their Cingular phone.

You can send text messages from your computer. Will that do the job?
I used my Cingular phone recently in Europe and text messages I sent were
never received and vice versa.

Thanks to the folks who treated my query with the respect it deserved. I
will continue to check with Cingular. I don't know of a way to send SMS by
computer to Pakistan, and in any case, I'd rather have SMS capability from
my phone. In the meantime, if someone else has had direct experience with
SMS to Pakistan, please do let me know.

To those who flamed me, please know that it's EXACTLY people like you that
are the problem. We'll never have peace in this world until there are
people that think like you (and they do exist on both sides).

I've had problems sending Cingular SMS overseas. For example, i can receive
SMS from China but not send them. Sending and receiving to some other
countries is hopeless.

I've never tried to Pakistan.

I heard that T-Mobile (owned by Deutsche Telecom) provides great
international SMS service. You may want to check there.

I seriously doubt that T-Mobile works any better than Cingular -- AFAIK they
use the same basic mechanism.

No, John, unfortunately, given the many incidents in the US alone, a
Muslim being afraid of persecution isn't being nonsensical. It's sad,
but it's true, that too many people see all Muslims as potential
terrorists.
