So seriously considering the new Macbook pro 15 for computer science at university

Wondering if there are any devs out there using one or have experience with using macs for coding. I have been shopping around and I can't find a whole ton on the new MBP on the dev side. My parents are not liking the price tag but are willing to shell it out(With my help of course) if it works well for what you get. I am currently looking at the 15 inch model with a 512gb ssd with the 2.9 ghz i7 quad core and 16gb of ram. I just want to know that I am getting a good programming computer that will last me for a long time.

Any devs out there? Wondering if using a macbook pro for getting my computer science degree would be good? I am mainly a PC user and just wondering if I am getting a super bad deal if I end up getting a macbook pro or would it be an all around great option performance wise and everything. I am currently looking at the dell xps 15 or a macbook pro(Either the newest one or the previous gen model for the mac) Wondering what your guys thoughts would be, I would need at least an i7 with 16 gb of ram. 15 inch screen nothing smaller and light weight with good battery life to get me through the school day without having to pull out my power brick every class. I would like to stay under 2000 because I would still need to get a protection plan lol(Except in the macbooks case if it really is good and reliable, as in it'll last me for a long time then well it's apple, we all know how that goes).

I like the xps 15(Currently have the best version you can pretty much get that I am just testing out, I just hate the keyboard tbh).
