Sony Cybershot DSC-WX80 or DSC-WX100?

I'm looking for a compact camera which will take high quality videos, good low-light performance (for night and indoors).

I search online and find two models Sony Cybershot DSC-WX80 and DSC-WX100. i am double minded between these two models. Both camera is same price in my country.

Sony WX-80 has a builtin wifi but wifi is not my requirement.My requirement is high quality video recording.

Kindly tell me which one of these two is good for video recording.

as far as i can tell, they are the same camera. the wx100 has a hight pixel sensor, but that will not affect video recording. the additional features (HDR, 3D) will not affect video again.

if your intent is videography over photography, why are you looking at these when there are decent video cameras in this price range?

Actually i am looking for a camera that will take high quality videos as well as photos. Video camera in this price range will take still image at 5 megapixel.

Also tell me that is their any difference between 25fps and 30fps same resolution. means if a camera record video at 25fps and other camera record at 30fps is their any difference in video result. which is better 25fps or 30fps.

Kindly suggest a video camera in $180 - $200 price range.

i know more about photography than videography, so i may not be helpful there. so someone else may want to chime in.

but i do know what some of the numbers mean. like for night/low light video, you want to find a lower Lux number. the lower the number the darker the enviroment can be and still give you a quality image. 300-500 lux would be typical indoor lighting, 1000 lux would be studio lighting, 1-3 lux would be a clear night with a full moon.

i would recommend a CMOS sensor if in your price range. since HD video is in the 2MP range, they sensors don't need to be huge, so your still image quality wont match a photography camera.

so.. of the 2 cameras you mentioned in the begining, i would go for the wx100. based on sensor, and image features.

fps translates a little differently in videography. 25fps could be listed as 25hz, or 720p25 (720 progresive lines at 25fps or 25hz). and becouse of how progresive vs interlaced works, you can aslo see 720i50 (720 interlaced lines at 50fps or 25hz)

either way, fps makes the motion look smoother. just like video games. tv/movies are typically 25-30fps, select new movies (hobbit,avatar) if seen in the theater are 48fps. but in the 720i vs 720p case, you can get more fps at a reduced image quality.

Depending on what country you are in it could affect playback on your DVD player. Though I have heard that newer players are capable of playing both PAL and NTSC DVDs. As mentioned by everlost, 30 fps will provide smoother motion than 25 fps. The lower the frames per second the more susceptible the video is to motion blur.

I have the DSCWX80 . Resolution is terrific. It is lightweight. Carl Zeiss lens. I would not buy it again. Too small. Unfixable problems. Incompatible with Apple product.
