Hi Folks,
I'm buying two laptops from Sony, both very similar, and wondered what you all think about this setup from Sony:
Model Number: VGNFW290-CTO
VGN-FW290 Configure-to-Order
Customization Details
LCD 16.4" (XBRITE-FullHD™)
320 GB SATA Hard Disk Drive [5400 rpm]
WLAN (802.11a/b/g/n) with integrated Bluetooth® technology
ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3650 with 512MB vRAM
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P8400 (2.26GHz)
Blu-ray Disc™ Read Only Drive (but reads/writes DVD - just doesn't BURN Blu-ray)
Microsoft® Windows Vista® Home Premium 64-bit
4 GB DDR2-SDRAM (DDR2-800, 2GBx2)
Price is about $835 + tax, shipped.
So I guess I'm wondering if there's any other owners of the "FW" laptops, how they like them, if I got a good deal, etc. Also, this is for my son who will likely use it for watching Blu-Rays/DVDs, Media Center (with a HDTV), playing WoW and perhaps Left4Dead, Half-Life 2, etc. How will games perform on this? In retrospect, I probably would have just upgraded to the 7200 rpm HDD and a faster CPU, but I had to buy two of these for my kids, and Christmas is getting more expensive every year.
I'd sure appreciate any thoughts...
Thanks!
Steve
