Sony laptop intermittently crashes, won't reboot

I bought an ultraportable VGN-T150P less than 2 months ago. Last few days,
it's been crashing a lot. Usually reboots right away but at times won't do
anything. Or I'll push the power button and hard drive light will come on
for a second, then it does nothing for a few hours. After that, works for
awhile as if nothing happened.

Any ideas what's wrong? Heat? Power supply? Mobo?

well crashes can occur from memory, overheating, power supply, bad cpu or
corrupt drivers. The first thing I would do is wipe the drive and reload the
os and drivers and see if it runs. If not then I would look at the hardware.
If it is under warranty call Sony.

If it just turns off, no blue screen, no nu'thing, just goes black -
then heat problem.

The fact that it runs well on occasions would rule out corrupted software.
This is most likely a hardware problem, in which case, it's time to make use
of the warranty.

Post to http/pub173.ezboard.com/bunofficialsony . Check Event Viewer
logs for any recurring warnings or errors that might offer a clue to the
startup problems. What happens if booted to Safe Mode? If that works
OK, then take a look at which startup apps are specified: Start, Run
Command, Startup Tab. One of these might be the source. Run, from a
command prompt: sfc /scannow. System File Checker will check each
system file for corruption and replace any corrupted or missing files
from C:\Windows\i386. From a command prompt run: chkdsk /f to check the
disk and file structure on the HD. Do a complete virus scan, ad-aware
or spybot scan.
