sony receiver shuts of when I raise the volume too high

I have a pair of technics sd-s407 loudspeakers that I connected to a new sony str-dh550 receiver. Every time I raise the volume past 30 the receiver shuts off. What should I do?

The reciever is likely not rated for the amount of power those speakers draw, so when it gets to that volume it will shut off to stop itself from putting to much current though itself. You need to get some speakers with lower impedance or a more powerful receiver.
