Solved! Sony STR-DH500 DVD HDMI input stuck on coax

I bought the DH500 used, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but this thing's DVD input is set to use coax, despite me plugging in to the HDMI port. Is there any way to get it to detect the HDMI input instead of it trying to force Coax?

For the record, I'm not using it for a DVD player, but for a gaming console (my Switch dock), so I don't know if that is an issue either?

Why are you trying to use the DVD Input then? Just use one of the HDMI inputs in the selection. On many TVs you can rename connections, but even then, if the selection called DVD Input is set for coax, just don't use that option.

Basically, here's the problem. I have my computer, my PS4, and my Switch. The back of the receiver has 3 HDMI in, and 1 out. The 3 are labeled SAT (satellite, it works), BD (Blu-Ray, it works), and DVD (it doesn't work). The input selector only shows two inputs that use HDMI (BD and SAT) in the upper left corner of the display window.

On AVRs there is usually an input setup menu to assign connections to input names. You can download the owners manual here

If the HDMI input is defective then you can get an external HDMI input selector to expand one of the working inputs to as many sources as you need.

So I figured it out. I just had to factory reset the thing. No biggie.
