Hi All,

I am planning to buy Sony VAIO Laptop VGN-A190 Model.

Any good/bad experience with Sony VAIO Laptops will be very helpful to
me before I will go for it? What's your opinion on it? Should I go for
this model or should I go for other manufacturer.

I am looking following in the laptop:

- Powerful processor
- Desktop replacement
- 80 GB Hard Drive
- Wireless LAN
- 64 MB Graphics card
- Screen: 16" or more
- Power Entertainment Center
- DVD/CD RW
- Must have Firewire port
- At least 512 MB RAM

Any suggestion will be very helpful.

While Sony makes some great products, they've become one of the
*worst* companies, when it comes to after-the-sale support.

Search this newsgroup, and others, for details.

Caveat Emptor (Let the buyer beware)!

I have had good experience with two Sony laptops. Both were factory
refurbished from U-bid. Both were great value and great performance.
But support can be poor to good.

I LOVED my SONY Z505LE, BUT beware that even though Sony makes great
laptops, their after sale support is not the best. They had my 505 for over
6 months to fix the motherboard. I flashed the BIOS and somehow caused the
machine to not be able to boot (even though I followed the instructions on
their site to a T, when they got my lapop, they said the problem was "water
damage", even though I BABYED that thing and it never got a drop on it)

Sony's support is terrible and has been so for many years.

I'm having a Sony VAIO desktop and I really love it a lot. I'm also
looking for a notebook and so far I really like VGN-A190. I think
that you should go for it if you affort it. I hope that the price
will drop becasue it still new and it cost too much.
