Hey. I just recently built me another computer, but have noticed a problem with Sony Vegas 13. For whatever reason, it renders much slower than my other computer, despite having better parts overall than my previous computer. Any help would be appreciated.

Solution
While the 7970 isn't the "top tier" of GPUs, the ones that are better are really expensive. Your build should have at least comparable results as to your previous build. BTW - did you check to ensure that Windows was utilizing 100% of the RAM? (right click my computer, go to properties - it should have a "System" section, and Installed memory (RAM): - with mine it has 16.0GB (15.9 GB usable). If for some reason the full amount of RAM isn't being used...that could be another "bottleneck".

HD 7970 AMD Radeon 3073 MB
Asus Sabertooth
Two sets of Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory
Windows 7 Ultimate
Intel Core i7-4930K Processor - BX80633I74930K

My old computer that I built in 2011 can render faster than the one I just now built. I have no idea why this is, but any help is greatly appreciated.

Is your monitor plugged into the GPU - and do you have the most current drivers enabled?

Also - did you set the BIOS to have the PCI/PCIe as the primary video card? If not, it could be using the Intel HD graphics.

How would I do that exactly? Set the PCI/PCIe as the primary card? I think it already is set to that, but I'm not sure.

There should be something in the BIOS that allows you to select "onboard graphics" (it could say "Intel HD4XXX Graphics") or PCI/PCIe. This is the primary processor for graphics....and if the intel graphics is set, it is going to be a lot slower as compared to your GPU.

I didn't see that option in the BIOs anywhere, even in the advanced settings. I'm pretty sure my GPU is the primary one set tho. I just don't get how an older computer can render a 10 minute video in 5 minutes on my old computer, but 12 on the new one. It doesn't make sense.

I appreciate the help with this situation. I'm going to go find the manual and check that out. I was doing a little research into myself and did find that apparently the 7970s and other like that just don't do that well with Vegas from what I have read. I'm going to go give what you recommended a shot and hope it works. I do greatly appreciate your help with this. I was having a bit of trouble looking online for solutions.
