My toshiba 50" died a few days back and i have been researching 4K TV's.
I have a budget of $1200 and the only 4K TV's that are said/reviewed to be really good for about that amount are the Sony 810C and P series 50"or 55" by Vizio.
The Vizio 50" is only 60Hz and the other two are 120hz and the 55" Vizio has a ISP panel while the other two use VA.
The TV will be used as my computer monitor(gaming, surfing, streaming) and also for my comcast xfinity cable.

Tough to pick without you actually looking at the picture. I like how IPS panels look, and don't really care about 60 vs 120 hz, but 120 hz does have it's own look to it. You may like the VA panels better, really need to look up reviews of the systems or look at them yourself.

Yeah there seems to be pro's and cons to both VA and IPS panels.
the VA has the better blacks but the IPS has a better viewing angle.
In review the P series is said to be a step up from the 810C due to the HRD ans dolby vision.
IF i go with a P50 that aslo has a VA where as the 55" has the IPS.
The 810C is edge lit and the P is FALD which reduced blooming at the edges.
The sony is said to has bloom at the edges of the screen,
