Yea your right. I'd rather have a limitless device on a limited network.

AT&T just REMOVED the "PC INTERNET" (tethering) button from the Samsung Captivate with the latest forced update. The update said it fixed the problematic GPS and had "other enhancements". But the only thing it did to my phone was delete that feature and the GPS is still crap. THANK YOU AT&T for screwing consumers0

I'm ignoring the Windows Mobile phone for now. I had a Samsung Epix with WM6.1 and it had lots of serious drawbacks, both the phone and the OS, but it DID offer multitasking, tethering, SD cards, and copy/paste. Why they have to take those features out when they offer a new version of the OS is really puzzling.

Why the left out tethering is easy to see- ATT probably wouldn't allow it.

"In addition to its GSM-only status at launch, Windows Phone 7 will also lack features supported by other platforms including replaceable memory cards, copy/paste functionality, full third-party multitasking, and now tethering."

This is sad. Those are the the main reasons why i didnt buy an iphone. I didnt expect this from MS of all the platforms! No replaceable mem cards? .. and copy-paste? wth?!
This just leaves me with one choice - Android. :)

So MS RE-enters the a new Stupid-Phone? MS Fails again.

yeah, I hope MS fails again with their phone-unit as they have with their ZUNES with about 2% of the "smart phopne" market.

Is Microsoft TRYING to push people to Android? Everyone who can live with limited and closed device already has iPhone. Everyone else is going to get Android now. We used to love Windows Mobile so much... RIP...

In addition to its GSM-only status at launch, Windows Phone 7 will also lack features supported by other platforms including replaceable memory cards, copy/paste functionality, full third-party multitasking, and now tethering. The first wave of Windows Phone 7 devices are expected to launch sometime in October.
Yeah, sometime back I read Steve Balmer said, we are coming and the OS is called Windows. Well, Mr. Balmer (Bummer), you need to take a look at your strategy because I don't see you going anywhere in the smartphone market with that crippled feature set.

[citation][nom]techieg[/nom]Tethering is dead anyway due to greedy wireless carriers charging up to $40/month to share one's 3G connectivity that we already pay up to another $40/mpth for with my laptop, these are separate from the standard phone bills. Whether a phone has tethering or not is of no use because it is just too expensive in the first place especially I am getting charged to share a service I already pay for. Stop this noise about tethering, noboy cares.[/citation]

It's dead in your neck of the woods but for the rest of us (Aussie) we get it for free. I get 2gb of included data usage per month and I can use it however I see fit. And it's a HSDPA connection in most areas as well so next time you go off on a tangent about YOU have a thought about the rest of us. 😉 PS I don't feel sorry for you.

Windows Mobile 7 sent to die. It's so ridiculous it's not even funny anymore, even Windows Mobile 6.5 is more feature packed that this piece of cr*p. What's next, remove support for third party apps? MMS? Email?

Fair play, Android didn't do tethering till 2.2 (Froyo)
This is the first release of WP7
I am confident it will have an update for tethering and it will happen sooner rather than later.
