Sound from computer to tv, to stereo speakers?

I have my computer (dell studio xps) using my dynex tv as a monitor. I have the sound going to the tv screen. I was wondering if there was a way to continue that sound through the tv into some speakers i have, via any of it's audio ports. i have the cables needed to go from audio (red and white) ports on the tv to stereo clip plugs.

The TV has audio outputs.
These must connect to an amplifier. (like a stereo receiver)
Then the amp drives the speakers.
The TV will not drive speakers directly.

what would the wires i bought be used for then, just newer stereo equipment to older speakers?

thank you for your answer, i will probably just give them away to a friend to deal with now.
