soundbar to dish tv

i have a digital out port on back of dish receiver and in port on rca soundbar, is this the best way to connect the two?

If your only source is the DISH receiver then it is the best way. If you have anything else connected to the TV or a smart TV then you would be better connecting the soundbar to the TV.
