Hi Community!



I'm on the market for a nice pair of bookshelf speakers with the best bang for your buck and a appropriate receiver. I'm a novice when it comes to this topic and wanted to pick your guy's brain on what i should drop my hard earned money on. This set up will primarily be used for music and a occasional movie here and there. Types of genres that will be played would be EDM, Country, and hip hop. I pretty must started my research doing what any uneducated person would do and it was to search for the "best" speakers and go to the appropriate price range. Based on my research what I found to be the best are:

I have to ask, do you have a receiver/amp to connect those speakers to?
What speakers you buy should also determined with what equipment you plan to use them with.

AS of now no. I am starting completely from scratch I think my budget for a receiver would be $500 or less. I would build around the speakers.

In my experience, it's harder to find the right receiver to go with existing speakers than it is the other way around.

But just to put my vote in this case,

I like the RP-500 and Studio 230

I'd probably end up with the RP-500 even though the higher price tag.

Speakers are just as much about your own taste and how they work in the room than better or worse.

Floorstanding speakers in this price range are compromised. They just can't built the larger cabinet properly and keep the price down.
Note the impedance and recommended power range of the speakers you chose. The amp has to be compatible with the impedance. Depending on the size of the room, how far from from the speakers you sit, and how loud is loud enough these tell you the amount of power you need. Better speakers are clear at lower levels which brings out nuance and detail at all volume levels. Loudspeakers have to sound good when they are not playing loud.
A used integrated amp might be a good fit and keep the price down. If you want a new one then one of these may work
