Speakers don't work, headphones do

Hi,

I bought Genius SP-HF2.0 1800A speakers some time ago and they worked perfectly at first, but recently, the speakers just don't work sometimes, even though headphones plugged into the speakers work fine. The weird thing is that this seems to be completely random and the speakers even might begin to work after an hour or so (without rebooting the PC). I can see the speakers in Sound devices in Control panel and they're the default sound device.

I also bought a new graphics card after I had bought the speakers, so could that be a problem (I reinstalled the gfx drivers using Driver Sweeper)? Is this likely to be a software, or a hardware issue?

Thanks for any help.

those speakers look to be unpowered (no ac power plug) and look to be fairly high rated at 36w rms for having no power plug.

what kind of soundcard or onboard sound are you connecting up to?

you could try reinstalling your soundcard software.

you could try hooking them up to another computer to see if they have issues.

without more testing on your part i cant say hardware/software issue.

at this point it could be anything

Well, the speakers do in fact hav an AC power plug.
i have a Realtek onboard card and my webcam is listed under sound devices as well. I unplugged it and the speakers work fine, all of a sudden. I'll see if the issue repeats.
