I have a great set of speakers built for connecting to a pc etc, with a stereo mini plug. Any way to connect these to an old school receiver/amplifier, that has copper wire inputs for speakers? Maybe connecting through headphone plug-in on amp?
Thanks
Edit: What about using an adaptor like this one and connecting the speakers to the headphone output on the receiver? Will this work?

If the PC speakers are self powered you can connect them to the tape record outs or preamp outs on the receiver with a cable that has left and right RCA plugs on one end and a stereo mini plug on the other. You would control the volume at the speaker if you use the tape outs. No danger of damaging them since they are still powering themselves. You are just feeding them the same signal that the receiver would be playing.
If they are not self powered yeah they would be toast pretty fast.
most likely you will blow those speakers if you connect to an amplifier/receiver. they arent meant to handle that much power (computer speakers are normally 5-10 watt)

edit:

the way to connect would likely be to use a 3.5mm female to rca connector and cut the ends off which can be used in the terminals.

again... though this is how you could connect.... you are going to trash those speakers and i would not suggest it in any way shape or form.

Hi
most computer speakers are powered and have an internal amplifier,do you have to plug a power supply into yours ? if so they are powered.
If the speakers are powered then you cannot connect them to the speaker output of a receiver or you will almost certainly blow your speaker amp.
The only way to connect them would be to use a speaker to line level converter or plug them into the headphone socket of the receiver.

Is it also possible to connect a soundbar (i.e. Yamaha YSP-900) this way?
