Just wish that the money could be used for helping out all the families who lose someone in the mines instead of the 33 who made it out..

Send them porn and blow up dolls. God forbid we know what all of those men are doing to satiate their needs without it...

[citation][nom]teodoreh[/nom]Whow, 33 iPods in exchange for publicity - that's what I call, good business...[/citation]

Well said, that's what it really is all about to Jobs.

Considering the poor quality of Apple technology and the high price of song downloaded from the iTunes Store, all Ipods should be free.

I'm going to start a t-shirt company with prints that say "I was stuck in a mine for 2 months and all I got was this stinkin iPod".

He is such a douche... it's ridiculous.

Jane please continue using this picture of Steve for everything, it's great! Someone else used it a while back and it made my day (it was a pretty crap day I must admit).

I sure this has been asked a million times, but I'm not sure how to phrase it for google so I'm just gonna throw it out there: What the hell is he doing in that picture?

@the pic: stevie describing how he would've rescued the miners single handed using nothing but an ipad, broom handle and a sock.

On a side note, reason why he did not give the miners ipods while they were stuck was cos they would've just left them down there imo.

Heh, hate him for being there, hate him for not being there; hate him for not sending iPods, hate him for sending them.

Haters gonna hate.

Anyway, it's a nice token of appreciation, since those guys (the "33") had, like, the worst time of their lives? Give Jobs the benefit of doubt at least, since it is a good deed anyway.

And there aren't enough words for thanking those outside Chile who gave their support and kind words to the "33". So, thanks you all 8)

Cheers!

PS: I'm from Chile, BTW.

[citation][nom]bin1127[/nom]Because miners are the unsung heroes of modern consumerism without which you would be mailing your comments by postmail. They are underpaid, rights goes unprotected, and they put their lives in significant danger. If steve jobs only helped shovel just 1 ounce of dirt he would deserve my respect than handing out an ipod to everyone in chile.[/citation]

A miner who survives a highly publicized cave-in is a hero. A miner who doesn't is a statistic.

Looks like Jobs broke the bank with this one. What a douche move. At least toss them some Macbook Pros or something.

[citation][nom]f-14[/nom]they didn't have any internet access to purchase songs for 99 cents each from itunes, so what would have been the point?[/citation]

Yupand what Idiot Jobs forgets is they don't have a USA bank account / credit card to work with USa online sales or no local music content on iTunes store or a local anything Apple so what do you eat the iPod's ?

Man I wish Idiot Jobs would stop smoking medical marijuana and take his great idea like this and make it pratically usable for those miners / any of the Apple customers.

Apple has great ideas but no cooking clue what they are doing.

Maybe when idiot Jobs gets down from his castle in the tech sky then he might see the normal user and his user experience with their products.

Nice how Apple uses this to get publicity. I Called Apple last year before Christmas and ask if they would donate a few shuffles for Kids waiting to be adopted. I do Christmas stockings for the local children home here where I live and thought it would be cool to get the teenagers some cheap mp3 players. Apple gave me a number to call that had a recorded message that said we can not help you at this time. I bet if it made big head lines in the news they would be all over it. Well that's O.K Mr. Jobs Microsoft is willing to help with mp3 players. You are a prick for that Mr. Jobs.

What a joke!
Millions of people die on Earh each year without Camera look in their direction neitheir millionnaire/billionniare/trillionnaire.

Like they are any problem in USA and all people there are rich.

Human are really stupid and think less than Ant !

"we can't help but think the iPods would have been much more useful when the guys were still stuck in the mine. "
They supposedly weren't allowed them or similar music playing devices because there was concern that it might seperate any miners who chose to sit and just listen to them. I'm guessing that apple had already offered them, but they just waited till they were up before giving them out.

[citation][nom]Zulfadhli[/nom]Most Apple products are built in the same factory as Asus..[/citation]
No, they aren't. Asus has their own factories, and even though they manufacture some components for Apple, Apple products aren't built there.
