When files are moved from device storage to sd card. To save storage on my tablet, if I delete the files, it also deletes the same files on my sd card. How do I delete the storage files, but also keep them on my sd card?

I haven't tried it yet, but the answer makes a lot of sense to me. I may lose months of work, but if it works it will be worth the effort to replace the 1,000's of lost files when I delete the devise storage. At least they can be replaced. Will report back if I run into a problem. Thanks again for your courtesy. Larry Johnson

When following the directions, I get hung up right away when it says to go to device storage and tap upper right horizontal bars and then tap settings. There is no settings tab there. For your information, I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S. Tablet. Any more help would be greatly appreciated. For the life of me I can't understand that when you tap move here for a file, that it is in essence just a shortcut really. Thanks, Larry.

Go into file manager.....select device storage....then select the item you want to move.....at the top you will see an arrow pointing right.....click on that.......then select SD card.....at the top right hand corner there is a box with 4 lines in it......click on that box and your item will be moved to your SD card and free up space on your device

I'm just a nerd and didn't know where the file manager was. So I tried an internet search for my problem. I'm embarassed by how easy the solution was. When the file goes to device storage, simply hold and you can drag the file to any of the options on the left side listed. I tested this, and found when I deleted the file on the storage drive it still saved it on the SD card. My problem is solved. However, I now have to recreate over 8000 files anew. And several 1,000 on another SD card. At least now I know I won't lose them again. Thanks again, I still appreciate you trying to help me out. Larry Johnson
