Strange hang, then service update.

80 hour Philips series 2. Just finished watching a recorded show and
deleted it.
It waited a long time with an empty menu outline on the screen, then
displayed a schedule update message about a presidential press
conference pre-empting a couple shows.

The problem was that selecting "Done reading this message" just
returned me to the message. Most other buttons generated a "bong" or
did nothing. The only thing I could do was scroll up/down through the
message. I eventually had to pull the plug to reset it.

When it powered back up, it said it was installing a service update.
The service update message, dated 5/3, says I just received the new
TivoToGo feature (Which I've had for over a month now)..

My version number shows 7.1b-01-2-240. Is this a new version?

It's defintely responding much faster now. Before, it was taking a
good 10-20 seconds to return to NP after deleting a just-viewed show.
I hope it's the update, and not just the reboot clearing up some
clutter.

Yes, that would be the new version. I hope I get it soon.

Yep, that's an updated version. Good to hear it's fixed the
responsiveness issue for at least some.

I also received 7.1b yesterday - and yes, the response is much better. I
use a Radio Shack Infra-red repeater up in my office, which I have "Y'd"
off my Tivo Downstairs. I have a separate pickle, and TiVo was often
VERY sluggish to respond to the upstairs pickle. I had just chalked it
up to the repeater. I used to have to push a button a couple of times to
get a response, and then sometimes it would "double-activate" when it
did get around to it. But now, it works (almost) as well as the main
TiVo pickle downstairs. Of course, the main setup downstairs also works
better, too. I'm a happy camper.

I don't want a pickle.
I just want to ride on my motor-sickle.

It still; hasn't fixed the pixelizations and sound outages that happen
while watching (recorded or "live" These events are apparently
recorded to disk, because if I rewind and play, it happens exactly the
same way every time.

Well, if it's recorded, then the update won't fix the old recordings.
How about new ones (since the update), does it still happen there?

Yes, still happens regularly, but I'm pretty sure it didn't do it
before the 7.0 update.
