Strange ps3 screen problem.

My playstation 3 displays wrongly. It shows colours the wrong way and somehow moves the rightmost portion of the screen all the way to a bar on the right (pic http/imgur.com/VlEIqce) Anyone know what the problem might be/how to fix it? I'm really desperate and can't find anyplace else for the answer.

Has it always done this? Have you tried a different connection? Are the settings set to the correct display type and resolution? Don't have it set for NTSC if your TV is PAL or anything like that?

No it hasn't always done this, and it appears to work fine now, although it seems to vary from boot to boot wether or not the problem occurs. All my hardware is the same region (PAL) and I use the hdmi connection, another connection isn't possible because my receiver doesn't support it.
