Stuck on startup menu!

Hi!
I have a few years old hp lapton that won't start..
A few sek after I start, it takes me directly to the startup menu without me pushing anything..
From there It doesn't matter what I do if It's running some diagnostics or trying to continue the startup, it takes me to the next "page" but only for a split sek and then throws me back in to the startup menu..
It's like someone is pressing down the esc button or something..
I have removed it but everything seems to be ok..

any ideas?

It's a probook 4510s
It's my girlfriends laptop and her friend installed windows 7 on it, I thing It was ultimate..
She can't find the CD's and no recovery partition i'm afraid..
