No. Pip pip.

If you have an 827, you should have a manual for it. That's where
you'll find the particulars. The instructions are simple:

1. Put on a calibration tape
2. Align the playback head azimuth
3. Adjust the playback for flat response and desired operating level
4. Remove the calibration tape and put on a blank reel of tape you want
to use
5. Adjust the bias for the tape
6. Align the record head azimuth
7. Adjust the record EQ for flattest response
8. Adjust the record level to match the playback level
9. Adjust the meter calibration so that the meters read 0 VU at your
chosen operating level

You'll probably need the manual in order to find where all those
adjustments are located. There's a Studer mailing list and perhaps some
kind soul there has scanned portions of the 827 manual. But if you
checked the obvious place and didn't find one to download, you'll have
to look elsewhere.

Check http://www.recordist.com for info on the Studer list. But let me
give you a hint. Don't jump on there and ask for instructions on how to
align an A827. You'll just get told to get the manual. Ask where you
can get a manual, or at least the section that deals with alignment.
That might get you somewhere.

Hi Mike,

Sorry I was not specific enough; I know "how" to do it. I was looking for
some detail on the menu-tree & cursors for channel setup for a customer.
I have a A820 manual but the menu layout & operation are different. I
thought there might be a pdf. somewhere I could grab!

If the customer has an A827, he should have the manual inside the front
cover of the machine, with the info. Otherwise, Studer definitely does
have the manuals for sale, and they won't be happy about people putting
up free copies and cutting into their profits.

But I would still ask on the Studer mailing list.

(who never really liked the Studer autoalignment stuff... seems like
a lot of electronics to make a fairly simple process only a little
easier to do.)
