Stuttering videos

I've download a few videos from the internet and they seem to stutter during playback every few minutes, I've tried using different players, MPC, MP11, Winamp, VLC and I've tried playing them on my PC and Xbox 360 but no matter where I play them they still stutter at the same places in the video. This has happened with 10 videos so far what could the problem be?

When you download illegitimate videos from the Internet you get what you did not pay for. . .

If I am wrong with my assumption then provide more details.

That is true for some videos I have but a couple I paid for are having the same problem which I downloaded from Warner bros as it was included with blu ray films.

I cannot think of anything that would cause the videos to also stutter on your Xbox, except for a badly encoded video.
