well last year, i bought a surface pro 3 for my school work, and have had no problems until now.
i stopped using it in the holidays(started about 2 months ago) and only turned it on yesterday, so basically it hasent been used for about 2 months. and everything workes fine, except for the trackpad. it moves around like normal, but when i go to click the button, it doesn't regitster unless if i push it down very hard.

i have tried attatching and re-attaching the keyboard to the cover, but that hasen't helped
i did the full restart trick (15 second holding down power and volume up)
the laptop is all up to date.

is there anything else i can try, or do i have to buy another one

thanks in advanced

Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help in solving the issue.
- Start by connecting an external mouse and see if the same problem will persist or not. If the external mouse works fine normally that means it can be a hardware issue.
- Using the external mouse, uninstall/reinstall the Touchpad driver from Device Manager.
- Once uninstalled, reboot your laptop and it should reinstall the driver automatically upon reboot.
- If the driver will not reinstall download and install the latest driver from the manufacturer site.
- Last option would be to run a complete factory reset but it that will not solve the problem that really determine that it's a hardware problem.

an external mouse works perfectly fine, but the track pad is still not very responisve after re installing it
does the track pad need to be used for a while to like retrain it again to work.
