Surge Protector question ?

We have a UPS attached to our Laptop. Have been shutting it down at night along with the laptop. However, the battery in the UPS gave up the ghost and bought a new one. Seems the best to me to pull the plug out of the socket then nothing can happen to the equipment. However, does this harm the UPS?

No. Just turn off the UPS before disconnecting. If disconnected for some time, you might need to let the battery recharge before running your laptop.
