can I switch from the on-chip Intel 630 graphics to the 2nd graphics card, the NVidia 940MX graphics for the HDMI out?

Your laptop either a) has Nvidia Optimus, which means it automatically switches between the two based on graphics load or, b) does not have optimus and always uses the 940MX and the HD 630 is disabled.

Are you asking how you can force the laptop to switch to the 940MX, rather than let it pick between the two?
